Rector named the number of Islamic educational institutions in Russia

About 80 Islamic educational institutions, many of which are members of the Council of Islamic Education, are operating in Russia, said Rector of the Russian Islamic Institute, Chairman of the Council Rafik Mukhametshin.


"There are about 80 Islamic educational institutions in Russia today, and 45 of them are members of the Council of Islamic Education," Mukhametshin said at the presentation of the "Civil Identity of Muslims in Russia" textbook at the Russia Today news agency.


The textbook aims to form a Russian civic identity among Muslims living in Russia in the context of the history of Muslim peoples of Russia as well as modern spiritual, cultural and legal realities. It offers a description of the differences between social, ethnic, and religious identity and highlights elements for the formation of a common civic identity.


The authors of the books are Vyacheslav Polosin, professor at the Bulgarian Islamic Academy, Deputy Director of the Fund for Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education, Rafik Mukhametshin, Rector of the Russian Islamic Institute, Chairman of the Council on Islamic Education, and Ibrahim Ibragimov, Executive Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Coordination Center of North Caucasus Muslims.
