Regions celebrate Russia Day

Large-scale creative activities, street theatrical performances and festivals will be held on Russia Day in the country's regions. In Krasnodar everyone can take part in creating a map of the country from 30 thousand rosebuds of different colors on the 4.5x9 m stand, and the fashion shows and exhibitions of national costumes will be held in the Nenets Autonomous District, Bryansk and Kurgan, the organizers of events in the regions told TASS correspondents.

 

On Russia Day, as usual, Russian President Vladimir Putin will personally award state prizes for the past year. This time the creators of the film "Vyzov" ("The Challenge"), director of the Mosfilm film company Karen Shakhnazarov, several teams of scientists and others are among the laureates. Also, the head of state will present the gold medals of Labor Heroes in the Kremlin.

 

More than a hundred formal and informal events - immersive performances, concerts and dance contests - are planned in Moscow on Russia Day. On the central staircase of the Theater of the Russian Army there will be a concert "Russia is my Pride". In the evening, the Big Stage will host a performance of "The Fate of One House" based on the works of front-line authors about the war. "These are stories about people during the war, their way to peace, to victory, all together creating a large-scale canvas about the Great Patriotic War," noted the press service of the theater.

 

In St. Petersburg, one of the central celebrations will be a festival of brass bands, which will take place in the Peter and Paul Fortress.

 

Tricolors in the Caucasus Mountains

 

The North Caucasus regions would unroll large-scale tricolors for Russia Day, and the country's flags would be hoisted on the laccolithic mountains as well. The mayor's office of Grozny told TASS that the Russian Guard Service and volunteers will install flags of Russia and Chechnya over an area of 300 square meters. In Zheleznovodsk a large-scale tricolor will be made of balloons at Kurortnoye Lake.

 

In Vladikavkaz, the festival of youth creative teams will take place on the Reunification Square, after which the participants will also stretch the Russian flag. Also, more than 1 thousand schoolchildren in the capital of North Ossetia will sing the national anthem on the Terek embankment. In Stavropol Victory Park there will be a concert in support of the soldiers of the special military operation.

 

VR-portal to other cities from the Russian Far East

 

They are preparing to celebrate Russia Day in the Far East as well. On Victory Square in Yakutsk an interactive installation "VK portal" will work, which allows anyone to contact nine Russian cities and talk to their residents online.

 

Apart from using modern technology, the Far Eastern Federal District will also pay attention to new traditions on Russia Day. One of them will be introduced this year in the Trans-Baikal Territory. A ceremony of hoisting the Russian flag and singing of the national anthem will take place in Chita at noon on June 12 at the observation point near the Chapel of Alexander Nevsky located on the Titovskaya Sopka followed by a signal cannon shot.

 

Russia Day will be celebrated in Vladivostok with sailing competitions.

 

Russia Day in new regions

 

Donetsk will celebrate the holiday for the first time as a full-fledged subject of the Russian Federation. "Post of Donbass" on this day will present postage stamps dedicated to the Donetsk People's Republic, as well as envelopes and postmarks, the press service of the post office told TASS. The issue features iconic places of Donbass. These include the Saur-Mogila memorial complex, Savior Transfiguration Cathedral, the monument To Donbas Liberators, the memorial to a steelworker located in Yenakiieve, the memorial to the exploits of the miners of Makiivka and the monument "Glory to the Miners' Labor."


In Donetsk Makiivka and Kherson Genichesk on this day activists of youth organizations will distribute tricolor ribbons to city residents. In Zaporozhye region there will be an action "Flag in the backyards", during which Russian tricolors will be used to decorate houses, entrances and windows.

 

Melitopol will host a contest of drawings on the asphalt "Russia - my dear home". In Genichesk and Skadovsk for young citizens of Russia thematic platforms are organized, where they can collect a mosaic depicting the coat of arms of the country on the background of the Russian flag.

 

Cinema and sports records

 

In addition to musical and theatrical events, a number of regions will host large-scale cultural and sporting events. In Veliky Novgorod on June 12 there will be a festival of patriotic cinema "Russia needs you". The festival program includes documentaries and feature films about WWII and the Great Patriotic War.

 

And in the capital of the Komi Republic, Syktyvkar, there will be "Velonoch-2023" and the festival "TRP Recorder". On Stefanovskaya square of the city there will be a show "Power Extreme" with the demonstration performances of athletes, pulling trucks and balls of atlas.

 

Tver will celebrate Russia Day with the Athletics League Athletics Festival, which in 2023 acquired international status. "Leading athletes from Belarus have been invited to it: pole vaulters Irina Zhuk and Matvey Volkov, world championship long-jump medalist Anastasia Mironchik-Ivanova," the regional government press service told TASS.

 

Going back in time

 

On June 12 various regions of the country will hold various events, immersing the audience in the life and atmosphere of medieval Russia. In Kurgan guests of the city will enjoy the competition of masters of folk art crafts - lace making and artistic processing of birchbark.

 

At the Theatre Square in Kaluga on Russia Day the eighth inter-regional festival of national cultures will be held. In Karelia, in the House of Kantele a thematic quest will be held, which will tell its participants about the culture of their native land and its indigenous inhabitants: Karelians, Finns, Vepsians, Ingrian Landsmen and Russians.

 

In the Krasnoyarsk Surikov Art Museum the audience will visit an exhibition on the Russian classical art of the XVIII - early XX century.

 

The citizens of Baikonur traditionally celebrate national holidays of both Russia and Kazakhstan. On Russia Day, volunteers will hand out flags and balloons in the colors of the Russian tricolor to Baikonur residents. However, due to the announced mourning in Kazakhstan for the victims of the fire in the Abay region, the concert has been canceled, the city administration said.
