Russian RBM Urges the Country's Muslims Not to Yield to Provocative Calls

The Religious Board of Muslims of Russia has called on the country's believers to resist any provocative calls and has emphasized the importance of avoiding persecution of individuals based on national or religious criteria. This appeal from the presidium of the DUM of the Russian Federation is in response to the incident at Makhachkala airport and has been shared on the official Telegram channel of this centralized religious organization.

 

"Our religion condemns injustices, collective punishment, 'kangaroo courts', as well as any manifestations of racism and arrogance, including anti-Semitism and xenophobia. We call upon Russian Muslims to resist any provocative rhetoric, to uphold their humanity, and to maintain their patriotic devotion to our shared homeland - Russia. Any calls or actions that target individuals based on their national or religious affiliations are deemed criminal," the statement emphasized.

 

The Religious Board of Muslims, in its statement, urged federal and regional authorities to promptly, competently, and judiciously respond to the recent events. They expressed their readiness to clarify the Islamic perspective on such incidents and emphasized the importance of strengthening the collaboration between the government and religious organizations, advocating for proactive engagement before situations escalate.

 

On October 29, mass disturbances unfolded at Makhachkala airport when a regular flight from Tel Aviv arrived amid the escalating Middle East situation. Over a hundred individuals entered the airport building and airfield, subsequently being removed by law enforcement. According to the latest reports, more than 20 people, including police officers, were injured, and 60 individuals involved in the unrest were detained. The Dagestani authorities and religious leaders condemned the incident, attributing it to a provocation.
