Strategic forces conducted ballistic and cruise missile launches at the exercises

The Strategic Missile Forces, crews of Tu-160 and Tu-95MS long-range strategic missile carriers, combat units of Plesetsk Cosmodrome and crew of the Northern Fleet submarine cruiser launched ballistic and cruise missiles as part of the Strategic Forces exercise, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Wednesday.


"Training and combat launches of intercontinental ballistic missile, submarine ballistic missile, high-precision long-range air-based cruise missiles were made from the State Cosmodrome Plesetsk, from the Barents Sea, as well as Tu-160 and Tu-95MS aircraft from Engels and Ukrainka airfields," the Department said.


Rockets hit targets at the Kura and Pemboi fields.


The training on strategic nuclear forces was held in Russia on December 9 under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Vladimir Putin in accordance with the plan of the armed forces training. As it was noted in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, all the tasks, which were set within the framework of the exercise, were completed in full.
