The Russian Armed Forces have completed a sudden check on combat readiness

The events of the sudden check-up of the readiness of the Armed Forces, which took place on the instructions of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin, have come to an end, the Defense Ministry reported.


"The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have completed the activities of the sudden check of combat readiness, conducted from July 17 to 21, 2020 in accordance with the decision of Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation," the report says.


The military department specified that the troops and forces of the Southern Military District, part of the military administration and troops of the Western Military District, airborne troops, as well as formations and military units of the Marine Corps, which were involved in the inspection, would return to their permanent deployment points.

 

 

"As part of the inspection, a set of measures was implemented to bring headquarters, formations and military units to the highest degree of combat readiness and exit to the designated areas, redeployment of air formations to operational airfields," the Defense Ministry noted.


The main task was to assess the ability to ensure military security in south-western Russia, where "threats of terrorist character remain". Also, the assessment of the readiness of troops for the upcoming strategic command and staff exercise "Caucasus-2020" was made during the events.


About 150,000 servicemen, about 400 aircraft, more than 26,000 weapons, military and special equipment, more than 100 ships and supply vessels were involved in the sudden check of combat readiness.
