Chechnya to Raise Grant for Best Teachers to 10 Million Rubles

04 July

The Chechen Republic will increase the annual grant awarded to its top teachers from 4 million to 10 million rubles, Head of the region Ramzan Kadyrov announced on his Telegram channel.

“The minister proposed raising the grant awarded to the best teachers at the end of the academic year,” Kadyrov wrote after meeting with Education and Science Minister Khozh-Baudi Daaev. “I have decided to increase it from 4 million to 10 million rubles.”

According to Kadyrov, the ministry, together with local education authorities, has been “doing systematic work with families of students who struggle academically or have poor attendance.”

He also addressed the shortage of teachers in key subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, and math. “We’re working on targeted admissions to the Chechen State Pedagogical University,” he said. “And thanks to the support of the Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov Regional Public Foundation, students in these fields will receive an extra 10,000 rubles a month added to their scholarship throughout their studies. This will be an additional incentive to train qualified professionals.”

Work is also underway to improve teachers’ salaries, Kadyrov noted.

He added that construction has already begun on seven new schools and seven kindergartens this year, and 20 school buildings are undergoing major renovations. Schools are being equipped with modern furniture and technology.

“I stressed the importance of a systematic approach to teaching the native language,” Kadyrov wrote. “Special attention should be paid to this in schools and kindergartens. The native language must remain the foundation of our cultural and spiritual identity.”
