The head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov appointed the former commander of the Akhmat-Haji Kadyrov regiment, Vakhit Usmaev, as Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic. The regional Parliament voted unanimously for Usmaev's candidacy earlier.

"Vakhit Usmaev became the new Deputy Prime Minister of the  Republic. On Tuesday, his candidacy was unanimously approved by the Parliament of the Republic on my proposal. Vakhit Usmaev was at the origins of the legendary special purpose police regiment named after the Hero of Russia Akhmat-Haji Kadyrov, " the Chechen leader wrote on his VK page.

Kadyrov noted the military merits of Usmaev, who "led hundreds of operations to neutralize members of illegal armed groups and personally took part in dangerous clashes."

According to Kadyrov, the new Deputy Prime Minister made a significant contribution to the victory over international terrorism in the Republic and ensuring the well-being of the population.

Previously, Usmaev headed the administration of the head and government of the region, the Security Council of Chechnya and the Gudermes district.
