Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov called the US sanctions against him and a number of people associated with him absurd and shameful. He also said that they did not affect the development of the republic.

The US Treasury Department on Thursday put a number of individuals and legal entities, including from the Russian Federation, associated with Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, whom the US authorities consider involved in "serious human rights violations" on its sanctions list.

"Friends, America has started fighting sports, wives, children, charities, athletes, horses... Nothing has ever been more absurd in the history of all mankind," he wrote in his Telegram channel. - "I am not surprised at this case, and I am not frightened, either. These sanctions have no effect on the Chechen Republic and its development.

According to him, the region has recovered from the consequences of the actions of international terrorists, Chechnya will continue to play football and provide assistance to those in need. "Another thing is strange - how in America they won't understand that these sanctions don't bother us," Kadyrov added.

He noted that he is thinking about applying to the Guinness Book of World Records.

"The record would be titled "Largest Number of People and Organizations on Sanctions Lists of One Republic." With each new sanction, breaking this record will be harder and harder. Unless, of course, the Guinness Book itself is then included on the Magnitsky list. But today's shameful sanctions will come back to haunt the United States. This really is a black page in the history of this country," Kadyrov concluded.
