During the first meeting of Russia's Council on Demographic and Family Policy, President Vladimir Putin emphasized that while economic conditions for starting families matter, they cannot substitute for fundamental values.
"Today we see young people pursuing education, building careers, and delaying having their first child," Putin observed, noting these trends reflect broader shifts in modern society. "Priorities evolve, life goals change - and that's generally positive."
However, he stressed that core values surrounding family, children, and parenthood must endure. "These are things money can't buy," the president stated. "Of course, practical support matters — nobody wants to bring children into poverty. But financial assistance and family values complement rather than replace each other. These fundamental principles remain crucial."
Putin called for consolidated efforts to strengthen family values while ensuring government policies adequately support those wanting children.
