Putin: Russia’s Development Plans Span the Entire Country

24 December

Russia’s strategic development plans span the entire country—from Kaliningrad to the Kuril Islands, from the Arctic to Crimea, Donbass, and the Caucasus—President Vladimir Putin said during a plenary session of the Federation Council.

The Russian president emphasized that the success of such ambitious efforts hinges on actions by federal executive and legislative bodies, but their real implementation happens locally in regions, cities, and towns.

“I’m addressing both you and the government: we need to more actively and closely involve the regions in shaping new decisions on the national agenda,” he continued. “We also need to establish proper oversight of their execution, including through public and nonprofit organizations, veterans’ and youth groups, business communities, and local expert platforms. They should have more opportunities and real mechanisms to contribute to achieving our national development goals.”
