Aynur Birgalin has been re-elected as the chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims in Bashkortostan. His candidacy was confirmed during the organization’s congress held in Ufa, according to the press service of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia.
"By unanimous decision, Aynur Hazrat Birgalin was re-elected as the Mufti of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia, Mufti Albir Hazrat Krganov, presented Aynur Hazrat Birgalin with a turban and chapan," the statement read.
More than 250 delegates participated in the congress.
Birgalin first assumed the role in April 2019 following the resignation of the previous Mufti, Nurmukhamet Nigmatullin, who had held the position since 1992. The administration oversees 737 of the 1,300 Muslim communities in the republic.
