Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal district Yuri Chaika says that it is necessary to make management decisions on the ground after information that medical institutions in Dagestan are becoming a source of COVID-19 infection. This, according to RIA Novosti, is reported by the press service of the mission.
"The widespread of the coronavirus infection has revealed a number of acute problems in the region's healthcare structure. We also received information that medical institutions themselves became a source of the infection, which is clearly unacceptable. It is necessary to respond to such requests in a timely manner and make serious management decisions on the ground," said, in particular, Chaika, whose words were quoted by the press service after a conversation with the head of Dagestan, Vladimir Vasiliev, by phone.
Chaika asked Vasiliev about the implementation of the instructions of the head of state, in particular, concerning the equipping of medical institutions with equipment, transport, personal protective equipment for specialists, as well as additional payments to medical workers.
"The Envoy informed the head of the region about the appeals of citizens from the cities of Makhachkala, Khasavyurt, Kizlyar, Buinaksk, Dagestanskie Ogni, Derbent, as well as small settlements that are coming to the office. Thus, alarm signals came from the village of Talovka in Tarumovsky district, the village of Kirovaul in Kizilyurt district, the village of Gubden in Karabudakhkent district and the village of Tlokh in Botlikh district. Residents tell about the lack of tests for diagnostics, beds in medical institutions, and, as a result, a high level of mortality," the report says.
According to the press service, Vasiliev informed the President's representative about the measures developed to stabilize the situation on the territory of municipalities. "A number of issues have already been resolved, the rest will remain under the control of the Republic's leadership," he said.
According to the mission, Dagestan ranks first in the North Caucasus Federal district and fifth among the subjects of the Russian Federation, where the highest incidence of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 is observed. As of May 27, there are 4,455 people on the list of citizens with a confirmed diagnosis, and 130 died.
The situation in Dagestan was the subject of a separate meeting held by Russian President Vladimir Putin via videoconference on May 18.
