The court in Dagestan arrested for two months the official responsible for the provision of drinking water to the residents of Buynaksk, where more than 300 people went to the hospital after a mass poisoning. This was reported in the press service of the republican department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"The court granted the petition of the investigation and detained the acting director of the municipal unitary enterprise "Buynakskvodokanal" Abdulvagab Sharipov for two months in the criminal case initiated under Part 2 Article 238 of the Criminal Code ("Performing works and rendering services that do not meet the safety of life or health of consumers, committed against goods, works or services intended for children under six years old")," said the source.

According to the case file, the defendant failed to organize the maintenance of water supply facilities, disinfection of drinking water and industrial control of its quality and safety in a timely and proper manner. As a result, more than 300 people, including 246 children, went to health facilities of the city with acute intestinal infection from January 9 to 18, 2021. The cause of the infection was drinking water supplied to the population from the common water supply system.
