Dagestan to Launch Young Diplomats Club in February 2026

06 February

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) will officially open a representative branch of the Young Diplomats Club in Makhachkala on February 10, 2026. The club will be based at the Republican Multidisciplinary Boarding School for Gifted Children, as announced by Marat Osmanov, head of the MFA representative office in Makhachkala, during a press conference at the TASS Caucasus regional information center.

"Exactly one year ago, we announced our intention to establish a Young Diplomats Club at the boarding school for gifted children," Osmanov stated. "We believe it is essential to engage with students, fostering a diplomatic culture and encouraging them to consider a future in the diplomatic corps. We have timed the official opening for February 10 to coincide with Diplomatic Workers' Day. We have already enrolled 28 children; we didn't expect the first cohort to be this large, but it clearly demonstrates a strong interest among the youth."

According to Osmanov, the opening ceremony on February 10 will include the presentation of certificates confirming the students' membership in the club and their participation in the "Diplomats of the Future" interregional movement. The children will also receive commemorative gifts and a specially designed uniform—T-shirts featuring prints dedicated to Russia's most distinguished diplomats.

Osmanov further noted that a variety of events are planned for club activists throughout 2026. "This year, we plan to take the club's core members on an excursion to Moscow to visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the museums of Russian diplomatic history, and potentially the press center," he added. "This is our inaugural group, and we will continue to hold competitions throughout the year to select new members based on their performance."

In addition to educational trips, club members will be recruited as volunteers for major international events held within the republic.
