A large-scale iftar—a communal evening meal during Ramadan—was held at the foot of Mount Akhulgo in Dagestan for the families of soldiers involved in the special military operation (SMO). The event was organized by the region’s head, Sergey Melikov, according to the district administration’s press service.
“The iftar took place in the Untsukulsky district, bringing together families of SMO participants for a meaningful gathering hosted by the Head of the Republic of Dagestan, Sergey Alimovich Melikov,” the statement read.
Among those attending was the district head, Isa Nurmagomedov. A representative of the regional government, Nyusret Omarov, delivered a message on behalf of Melikov, in which he extended his warm wishes for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr (Uraza Bayram) holiday. Religious leaders from several districts of Dagestan also took part, sharing stories from the life of the Prophet Muhammad and Imam Shamil, the legendary leader of the Caucasian resistance.
The evening concluded with a collective breaking of the fast following the Maghrib prayer.
