Memorial to Muslim warriors to be unveiled in Dagestan

A memorial complex commemorating Muslim soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War is to be opened on November 3, 2021, in the Republic of Dagestan in the city of Kaspiysk, head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia, Mufti of Moscow Albir Krganov told a press conference.


"There was a lot of work, and today there is understanding and support for our initiative to build a memorial complex dedicated to the Muslim soldiers who died in the battles of the Great Patriotic War. Millions of Muslims of the USSR died defending their homeland. The monument will be located in the city of Kaspiysk of Dagestan Republic. We plan to open the monument in autumn-winter of this year, probably, on November 3, 2021," the mufti said.


He noted that the initiative was supported by the Defense Ministry and the counterintelligence department of the Federal Security Service of Russia.


According to the Mufti, in the center of the memorial complex there will be a dome with 4 pillars, inside which there will be a marble mound imitation with the Quran ayats. The complex will also feature two documents - Mufti Gabdrakhman Rasulev's fiqh on the declaration of jihad against Nazi Germany and an appeal by Central Asian Muslims to help widows and orphans.


Mufti Krganov said an international conference on the contribution of believers to the victory is planned as part of the monument's opening.
