Putin highlighted Dagestan's industrial and agricultural achievements

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the growth of industry and agriculture in Dagestan. The head of state discussed possible new projects with the republic's leader, Sergei Melikov, on Wednesday.

"I looked, your industrial production last year grew much more than the Russian average, by more than 16 percent, while the national average was 3.1," Putin addressed the Dagestan's head. Melikov explained that this result was largely due to the withdrawal of a number of enterprises from the shadows. "Clearly, yes, of course, "whitewashing" the economy, taking it out of the shadows," agreed the president.

The head of the state drew attention to the fact that "the agriculture grew well too" and pointed to the opportunities of Dagestan for the development of viticulture.

According to the president, "one of the most acute problems, not always, but for a long time in the Caucasus, in Dagestan in particular, is the problem of employment, jobs." Putin heard Melikov's report about investment projects, which deserve special attention and support so that new jobs can be created.

Another topic of conversation was the spread of coronavirus and vaccination in the region. The leader of Dagestan emphasized the role of the Muftiyat, which "since the beginning of the pandemic has been very active in preventing the disease and today continues to help the authorities in this regard." "Very good. We must certainly thank them," Putin noted.
