24 November 2022

The Makhachkala wind farm with total installed capacity of 12.5 MW will be built in Dagestan in 2023. The project will be implemented by EcoEnergy Group of companies, and equipment for the wind farm will be produced by NovaWind JSC  (Rosatom's wind power division), the division's press service said Thursday.

"NovaWind JSC and EcoEnergy GC signed an agreement on cooperation to implement the construction project of the Makhachkala wind power plant with installed capacity of 12.5 MW in the Republic of Dagestan. <...> The parties have agreed to work together on the design and construction of the wind farm in 2023," the statement reads.

The wind farm will consist of five wind turbines with capacity of 2,5 MW each. Equipment for the construction of the wind farm will be produced by NovaWind JSC at its own production facilities in the Rostov region, as well as involving domestic partners of the project.

"NovaWind, as a technology owner and producer of essential components, acts as a guarantor of successful implementation of such projects, reducing uncertainty and risks for our partners," said CEO of NovaWind JSC Grigory Nazarov, whose words are cited in the report.

In September it became known that the construction of wind power stations with total capacity up to 315 MW is expected in Dagestan in the next 5 years. The Makhachkala wind farm in Novolaksky district of the republic will be the first wind power plant in the region and will be a part of the large Caspian wind park, which will provide environmentally clean energy to consumers in the region.
