Ingushetia has experienced minimal impact from Western sanctions, largely thanks to business-friendly policies introduced in the region. This was stated by the Head of the Republic of Ingushetia, Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, in an interview with TASS on the sidelines of the Caucasus Investment Forum.
“Sanctions, of course, affected all regions to some degree, but we’ve moved past that — we’ve already adapted and built up immunity,” Kalimatov said. “I personally head the Investment Council, and we’ve taken steps to ease the burden on businesses. Through our parliament, we passed legislation reducing taxes for small and medium enterprises — from 6% down to 2%. We’ve significantly boosted agriculture by supporting local producers with seeds and fertilizers. Honestly, we hardly noticed the sanctions.”
Kalimatov emphasized that the regional government has focused on developing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and expanding the industrial sector.
He highlighted RIAK, a local enterprise that produces aluminum profiles, turning out about 90 tons per month, ranking among the top five producers in Russia. “We also launched another plant, RIAL, for the production of aluminum alloys,” he said. “Just a couple of weeks ago, we officially recognized new investors as residents of the aluminum cluster during our Investment Council meeting, and they are now set to expand this line of production.”
