Pushkov commented on Kiev's protest over parades in Crimea

26 June 2020

Senator Aleksey Pushkov commented on his Twitter note of protest of Ukraine because of the military parades in Crimea.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry earlier sent a note of protest to Russia over parades in Crimea and the Donbas "without coordination with the Ukrainian side". Parades dedicated to the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic war were held on June 24 in Simferopol, the hero cities of Sevastopol and Kerch. In addition, the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics held their victory parades.

"The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry in its repertoire said that the Victory parade in Crimea leads to an escalation of tension in relations with Russia. It is strange that it is worried: Kiev is generally against the development of relations, Ukraine does not even have an Ambassador in Moscow. And the shelling of Donbass leads to an escalation - not parades, " the Senator wrote.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova commenting on the" protest " of Ukraine, said that representatives of Kiev "do not get tired of reproducing statements generated by a perverted perception of reality."

Ukraine has repeatedly expressed similar protests, including over visits to Crimea by Russian top officials. Moscow returns such notes without consideration or reaction.
