The first-ever passenger train linking North Ossetia to Crimea has officially departed, according to a statement by the republic’s head, Sergey Menyaylo, on his Telegram channel.
"North Ossetia and Crimea are now connected by rail: today, the first train left Vladikavkaz bound for Simferopol," Menyaylo announced. The route will operate on a seasonal basis, running once every four days until October.
Menyaylo expressed confidence that the new connection will be popular and play an important role in boosting both tourism and economic ties.
"This isn’t just a new route — it’s a meaningful step toward deepening the connection between our regions. North Ossetia and Crimea are both parts of one large and strong country, and now we’re even closer," he said.
