Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin supported the idea of creating a center of patriotic education and terrorism prevention at Beslan school No. 1, where more than 1,200 people were taken hostage by terrorists in 2004. The Russian government will allocate the necessary funds for this, he assured at a meeting with the acting head of the region Sergei Menyailo, which took place on Tuesday during the working visit of the head of the Cabinet of Ministers to Pyatigorsk.

According to the Acting Head of North Ossetia, the authorities of the region are ready to create such a center and have already allocated about 30 million rubles for this. He noted that the facility could be commissioned by the end of 2022, if the government helps the region with funding.

Mishustin pointed out that the 2004 Beslan tragedy shook the whole country and the whole world. "We remember [those events] and empathize with the victims of the tragedy, their relatives, and those who took part [in the operation] and saved the children. And I fully share and support the idea of creating such a center on the basis of this school," the prime minister responded. - "We will help with financing its construction, we will send the necessary federal funds". He asked Menyailo to submit the corresponding calculations to the government.

At the same time, the head of the Cabinet continued, it is not always easy to talk about such events, about the tragedy that took the lives of children and adults. "We need to preserve the memory of these people, and the center should have a special role in this," concluded Mishustin, thanking the Acting Head of the region for this initiative.

An international cultural and patriotic center for the prevention of terrorism will appear in the school in Beslan, which was seized in 2004. The project provides for the restoration of the existing building of School № 1 and the construction of a new auxiliary building for the museum. More than 220 million rubles are needed for this purpose. The project is being implemented by the "Mothers of Beslan" committee. The project will create objects connected with the terrorist attack on Beslan, as well as photo and video materials created during and after the tragedy, some of which have never been shown anywhere before.
