Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the residents of the Republic on the 100th anniversary of the Tatar ASSR.
The telegram published by the press service of the head of the Republic reads:
"Dear Tatarstan citizens! Dear compatriots!
I cordially congratulate you on a significant date – the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Tatar ASSR! A century ago-on June 25, 1920, with the transfer of full power to the Provisional Revolution Committee, the decree of the Central Executive Committee and the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR on the creation of an Autonomous Tatar Socialist Soviet Republic was filled with real content. This is one of the fateful milestones in the history of the Tatar and all multi-ethnic people of the Republic, which marked the beginning of the formation of modern Tatarstan.
The creation of the heavy industry, advanced aircraft and shipbuilding, the national automobile flagship - KAMAZ, the effective development of the agricultural sector, the development of the "big oil" and the formation of the petrochemical complex, the organization of world-class scientific and educational centers, and outstanding cultural achievements are written in golden letters in the glorious annals of the Republic.
In the Year of memory and glory, we bow our heads to the military and labor feats of Tatarstan people during the Great Patriotic war. The generation of winners was a model of perseverance, heroism and self-sacrifice. Having defended the independence of the Motherland and rid the world of fascism, yesterday's front-line soldiers and home front workers restored the country and created a powerful foundation for further development.
In the post-war years, thanks to selfless work, the Tatar autonomy became one of the leading republics of the Soviet Union. Having successfully passed the difficult stage of changing formations and becoming a new state, Tatarstan has preserved its industrial complex and created conditions for implementing large-scale social programs and projects with the support of the Federal center.
Today, Tatarstan is one of the dynamically developing and mainstay regions of Russia, making a significant contribution to strengthening the power and defense capability of the Fatherland, consistently supporting the course of our national leader Vladimir Putin to build a strong Russia.
We are grateful to all generations of Tatarstan citizens who made a significant contribution to the formation and development of their native Republic. Our success is based on the rich heritage of our ancestors, interethnic and interfaith harmony, strong production potential and aspiration for the future. The Republic of Tatarstan is the subject of our pride and confidence in the future!
