Construction of a new power unit of the Zainskaya hydroelectricity station has begun in Tatarstan. Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov unveiled a memorial sign in honor of the start of construction as part of a large-scale modernization of Russian heating networks, TASS correspondent reports.
"This program for the construction of the block is being implemented taking into account the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation to modernize the entire energy sector and power capacities, which we will implement over 10 years. The total program is about 41 thousand megawatts. A lot of work was done by the leadership of Tatarstan in order to get the Zainskaya station into this program. "I know what efforts Rustam Nurgalievich [Minnikhanov] made to ensure that this block was included in the modernization program," Alexander Novak said at the ceremony.
In December 2019, the Russian government commission on energy included the Zainskaya station in the program of modernization of old thermal power plants with market entry in 2025. According to the results of the auction in June this year, the Turkish company ENKA received the right to conclude a contract for the modernization of the station. The maximum value of the contract is 37.47 billion rubles, including VAT.
The winner of the competition has until November 30, 2023 to build a power unit of a combined-cycle gas plant with a turbine and then perform its maintenance. The power unit will consist of one gas turbine with a capacity of 571 MW, one steam turbine with a capacity of 279 MW, a booster compressor station with a gas treatment unit, a heat recovery boiler and auxiliary equipment for power generation.
Tatenergo is one of the largest regional generating companies in Russia. The company sells thermal energy on the territory of Tatarstan. The installed electric capacity of AO Tatenergo is 5384.9 MW. The number of employees exceeds 5 thousand people. The Zainskaya station is the largest thermal condensation power plant in the Republic, located in the city of Zainsk. It supplies electricity to Kazan and the oil fields of Tatarstan.
