The first participants of the Games of the Future have arrived in Kazan, as reported by a TASS correspondent at the Kazan airport.
"We are delighted to welcome the teams as the preparations for the Games of the Future have culminated. We have been anticipating this event for over two years, and despite the challenges of the night flight, we have prepared a distinctive program to energize the athletes and spectators alike," Deputy Director General of the Autonomous Nonprofit Organization "Directorate of Sports and Social Projects," Mikhail Leonov, informed reporters.
Representatives from Peru, Bolivia, the USA, Canada, Mexico, Latvia, Estonia, Argentina, Brazil, Iran, Turkey, Malaysia, and Indonesia have now arrived in Tatarstan's capital. They will compete in phygital hockey and Dota 2.
Leonov noted that most of the tournament participants arrive in Kazan 2–3 days prior to the start of their respective competitions. To ensure they are well-prepared, an array of programs has been arranged, including special bootcamps at the hotels where the athletes are lodged.
As of now, approximately 50–60 individuals are arriving in Kazan, with the opening ceremony slated for February 21. By the end of the month, around a thousand participants are expected to have arrived.
The Games of the Future, set to run from February 21 to March 3, will feature new sports disciplines utilizing modern technologies, a digital environment, and physical activity. The competition will incorporate advancements in cyber sports, robotics, augmented and virtual reality, IT, and AI. Over 2,000 competitors from more than 100 countries will participate in the inaugural Games of the Future.
