Head of Tatarstan arrives in Senegal to discuss cooperation

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has arrived in Senegal on a working visit to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation, the press service of the regional leader reported.


"President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov is on a working visit to Senegal. He was met at Dakar International Airport by Moise Diar Diegan Sarr, Secretary of State for Senegalese Affairs Abroad, as well as Dmitry Kurakov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Senegal and Gambia," the statement reads.


Minnikhanov, as noted, thanked for the opportunity to discuss cooperation between the two sides, and also congratulated the Senegalese national team on entering the FIFA World Cup 2022. The day before, the Senegalese team defeated the Egyptian national team in an African qualifying match in Dakar.


The secretary of state said it was symbolic that the visit begins with such an important event for the Senegalese.


Minnikhanov's working visit program includes business meetings, including meetings with representatives of the country's leadership, as well as participation in the Tatarstan-Senegal business forum. The delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, General Directors of Tatneft company Nail Maganov and Ak Bars holding company Ivan Egorov, representatives of Kazan Helicopter Plant, Remdiesel enterprise and others.
