Head of Tatarstan Directs to Organize Humanitarian Aid Collection for Gaza Residents

02 November 2023

Head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov has instructed the organization of a humanitarian aid collection for the residents affected by the situation in Gaza. This information was reported by the press service of the head of Tatarstan.

"Rustam Minnikhanov has directed the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan to oversee the collection of humanitarian aid for those affected in Gaza. Leila Fazleyeva, the Deputy Prime Minister responsible for social affairs in the government, has been designated to oversee this effort. Given the significant number of children among the victims and the concerns of Tatarstan residents, the head of the republic urges both local businesses and residents to actively participate in gathering humanitarian assistance," the statement reads.

The government of the republic is currently addressing logistical aspects related to the collection point and the list of essential items and food supplies.

The situation in the Middle East took a sharp turn following the infiltration of militants from the Palestinian organization Hamas into Israeli territory on October 7. Hamas characterizes this attack as a response to Israeli actions regarding the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. In response, Israel imposed a complete blockade on Gaza and launched retaliatory strikes against Gaza, as well as parts of Lebanon and Syria. Additionally, clashes are occurring in the West Bank.
