In Tatarstan, a 16-year-old boy attacked policemen with a knife, they used a service weapon and shot him, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic reports.

The incident took place last night in the city of Kukmor. At about 0:30 a.m., a local precinct policeman parked his service car near the building of the Interior Ministry's department in Kukmor district and noticed a fire and fragments of glass on the ground. While he was putting out the fire, an unknown young man threw another bottle of Molotov cocktail over the fence and ran away.

The policeman and the head of the prison cell who was on duty that night rushed in and when the intruder was caught, he began threatening them with a knife. He did not respond to the demands to surrender; when detained, he resisted actively and stabbed one of the policemen several times.

"Given the aggressive and socially dangerous behavior of a citizen in accordance with the law 'On Police', the law enforcement officers used service weapons," the Interior Ministry said.

After warning shots, the policemen were forced to shoot to kill. As a result, a young man died of his wounds before the ambulance arrived. It turned out that he was a local resident born in 2004.

Tatarstan's Interior Minister Artem Khokhorin arrived at the scene. Investigators and operatives find out all the circumstances of the incident. The wounded policeman was taken to hospital, his life is not threatened.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case regarding an attempt on a terrorist attack and an attempt on the lives of law enforcement officers.
