Lavrov to attend inauguration ceremony of Kazan as OIC capital on March 15

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will take part in the inauguration ceremony of Kazan as the youth capital of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for the period of 2022 in Moscow on March 15, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Wednesday.


"Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is scheduled to attend the inauguration ceremony of Kazan - Youth Capital of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation - 2022 on March 15. It will take place in Moscow, the Youth Forum of Islamic Cooperation has chosen the city of Kazan as the youth capital of the organization this year," she said.


The diplomat noted that a full program of events will help "to strengthen friendly relations between young people of our countries professing both Islam and other monotheistic religions, and create conditions for cooperation, joint work and true solidarity".


"The inauguration ceremony will be attended by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, representatives of federal, regional bodies of state power, public, youth, scientific organizations, ambassadors of OIC member states who are accredited in Moscow," Zakharova added.
