Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said the republic is interested in cooperation with Senegal and expansion of trade and economic cooperation in a number of areas. He spoke about the prospects within the framework of the "Tatarstan - Senegal" forum, the press service of the head of the region reported on Thursday.
"We came to Senegal with the aim of expanding trade and economic cooperation, establishing new business contacts. We believe that Tatarstan has great prospects in working with Senegal in the field of mechanical engineering, petrochemistry, agriculture, and innovative industries," Minnikhanov said when greeting the forum participants.
According to the press-service, in 2021 the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Senegal was $1.76 million. 167 Kamaz trucks were officially delivered to Senegal from 2003 to 2021. The main nomenclature is tractors for container transportations from the port of Dakar. "In 2021, Senegalese drivers and mechanics were also trained both at the territory of the customer and at the training center of PJSC Kamaz in Naberezhnye Chelny," the press service reports.
Minnikhanov also met with Senegalese President Macky Sall. At the meeting they discussed the results of the Tatarstan delegation's visit and plans for further development of relations. "It is very important for us to find good reliable partners, our region has developed industry and agriculture, we are ready to work in these directions. <...> Senegal has created favorable conditions for investors, and it is a good hub to move on to other countries of West Africa," the press service quotes the words of the president of the republic.
Minnikhanov is on a working visit to Senegal. The delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, General Director of PJSC Tatneft Nail Maganov, General Director of JSC Holding Company Ak Bars Ivan Egorov, as well as representatives of PJSC Kamaz, JSC Kazan Helicopter Plant, JSC Remdiesel and others.
