29 April 2021

Head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov reported to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on the stabilization of the situation with the spread of coronavirus in the region, as well as the main indicators of socio-economic development.

"The covid situation is stable, all hospital complexes are ready to receive patients," the republic's leader said at a meeting with the prime minister on Wednesday. Minnikhanov stressed that Tatarstan has received about 300,000 coronavirus vaccines, and about 240,000 people have been vaccinated so far. "The work is going on," he assured. The head of Tatarstan thanked the federal authorities for allocating funds for payments to medics, as well as for the construction of the Republican clinical infectious disease hospital. In November 2020, the Russian government decided to compensate Tatarstan from the reserve fund for the funds spent on the creation of this clinic. Minnikhanov noted that "the hospital is functioning very effectively".

Speaking about the situation in the economy of Tatarstan, Minnikhanov stressed that in the first quarter of 2021 in the main types of processing industry, in the petrochemical complex, in Kamaz "the situation is stable." "In terms of budget execution, we are on track, all social payments are paid on time," he assured. Minnikhanov also said that in 2020, investments in fixed capital amounted to 605 billion rubles. He expects to achieve even more this year at the expense of implementing new major investment projects.

"The labor market has stabilized," said the head of the republic. According to him, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the number of unemployed increased more than sevenfold, but now the situation has almost corrected and the number of unemployed is 1.6%. "This is a very good indicator," Mishustin assessed.

Special attention at the meeting was paid to the development of agriculture. Minnikhanov reported that spring field work is "in full swing" in Tatarstan. The Prime Minister asked about forecasts for this year's harvest. "Last year was successful, the level of last year should be," believes the head of the republic.

Mishustin thanked Minnikhanov for organizing the meeting of the Eurasian Economic Council heads of government in Kazan on April 29-30. "A serious delegation has arrived in Kazan, we see how everything is prepared, I hope that we will work very fruitfully, and our guests will get acquainted with the economy of Tatarstan and see interesting projects," Mishustin said.
