Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin visited the building of the Republican clinical infectious diseases hospital named after Professor Agafonov under construction in Kazan. Prime Minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko, Presidential Envoy to the Volga region Igor Komarov, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova.
Mishustin was told about the record time for the construction of a new building, which was required by the hospital due to the coronavirus pandemic. Construction began in late April. The implementation period for such a project is 18 months, but this project is planned to be completed in just 100 days-thanks to measures to reduce administrative barriers, including reducing by almost a third the mandatory requirements in construction and simplifying the procedure for state registration of real estate. According to plans, the hospital will receive the first patients by mid-August.
Head of the Cabinet of Ministers went into one of the reception and examination boxes, and after leaving it, found himself in a closed courtyard of the new hospital, organized in such a way that patients could go out on the balconies from their boxes to fresh air, without exposing the clinic staff to the risk of infection.
After examining the new complex, Mishustin noted that "everything has been done to make the treatment comfortable and professional in terms of medical care". He also praised the block-based organization of the building, pointing out that it helps protect medics who work in the "red" zone where patients with the coronavirus are located. Prime Minister asked the chief doctor of the hospital, Marat Galiullin, whether he himself had the coronavirus. After receiving the negative answer, Mishustin wished him health.
Prime Minister thanked the builders for the construction of the new hospital building in a short time, calling the result of their work "a fusion of technologies, optimization of work processes, the use of information technologies that allow almost 100 days to build such an object", and wished good luck to the doctors who will work in the new building.
Clear division
The infectious diseases building under construction is designed for 232 beds (with the ability to accommodate up to 400-500 beds in case of particularly dangerous infections), including 12 intensive care units. This building has a reception room with 10 reception and examination boxes and 120 infection boxes. The building is planned to be equipped with modern high-tech medical equipment, including ventilators, computed tomography, x-ray, endoscopic and ultrasound equipment.
A distinctive feature of the new building, built entirely on the block principle, is the clear separation of "dirt "(where infected patients are located) and "clean" (where doctors are located) zones, which reduces the risk of transmission of the virus inside the hospital.
The chief doctor of the hospital Marat Galiullin, speaking to reporters about the pace of construction, said that the builders "work around the clock, on average, 700 people are constantly at the site, constantly-equipment, organization of work." According to him, after the end of the pandemic, the new building will "fit in harmoniously" with the existing capacity for treating infectious patients, "both adults and children will be able to receive assistance here."
