Muslim public of Tatarstan is shocked by the attack of the teenager on the police department in Kukmor and strongly condemns terrorism and extremism in all its manifestations,  Kamil Samigullin, the Mufti of Tatarstan, said.

According to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, around 00.30 on Friday a young man threw two bottles of the flammable mixture into the parking lot of the Ministry of Internal Affairs department in Kukmor district and tried to escape. During his detention, he resisted actively and stabbed the policeman several times. The police officers were forced to use weapons and a young man born in 2004 died on the spot. A criminal case was opened under the articles "attempted terrorist attack" and "violation of the life of a law enforcement officer". According to a source in law enforcement agencies, a teenager shouted out the phrase "Allah Akbar, I will kill you all!

"Today in Kukmor, an abuser, a native of the Altai region, who lived in Udmurtia and Bashkortostan until his recent move to Tatarstan and fell under the influence of destructive ideology, committed an attack on the police department ... The Muslim community of Tatarstan is shocked by what happened and strongly condemns terrorism and extremism in all its forms and manifestations," Samigullin wrote on the page in Instagram.

The Mufti noted that the young man "created a treacherous atrocity, sacrificing the name of Allah," without being a parishioner of any of the republic's mosques, where he could be "imbued with the light of true faith". "Thus, the terrorist committed not only a criminal offense, making an attempt on people's lives, but also tried to cast a shadow on the great human values of our holy and pure religion," Samigullin said.

He expressed hope that "this provocation will have no effect" as in the republic Islam is professed solely as a religion of peace, goodness and mercy, and the criminal, whatever the slogans he is hiding behind, has no religion.

Earlier the administration of Kukmor district told RIA Novosti that the family of the teenager was not registered in Tatarstan. The Ministry of Education and Science of the republic specified that the teenager with his family came to Kukmor in July this year, he is a native of the Altai region, lived in the Bashkir Neftekamsk.
