The ceremony of awarding the Youth Leaders of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was held in Kazan on Thursday. The winners were chosen in seven nominations, the press service of the Ministry of youth affairs of Tatarstan reported.
"The ceremony of awarding young leaders of the organization was held in seven nominations - "Photographer of the Year", "Young Media Influencer of the Year", "Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year", "Young Researcher of the Year", "Public Diplomacy Project of the Year", "Young Ethno-athlete of the Year" and "Young Ambassador of Islamic Culture and Art of the Year", says the press service. It is noted that the OIC Youth Leaders award is held for the first time as part of the OIC Youth Capital.
Representative of Tatarstan Azat Nurmukhametov won in one of the nominations. He was recognized as the ethno-athlete of the year. "It was a surprise for me when I was announced the OIC Ethno-athlete of the year. This is an award for the entire International Kurash Federation. I've been practicing it myself since I was a kid, I became a world champion. This is my life," the press service quotes Nurmukhametov as saying.
According to the press service, more than 100 applications from 15 countries were received for the "Photographer of the Year" nomination. The winner was Md (Emdi) Nazmul Hasan Khan, a photographer from the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
Hubayb Kuas, a filmmaker and video blogger from Algeria, became the Young Media Influencer of the Year. Sara Rajabli, the author of Free to travel and BUTA Art & Sweets from Azerbaijan and Abdul-Fatau Maiga, a global youth ambassador - the author of Mon b b et Moi (Burkina Faso) won in the category "Young Social Entrepreneurs of the Year". There are two winners in the category "Young Researcher of the Year" - Sulay Kallo Mutari, PhD in Chemistry from the Republic of Niger, and Tuba Erkoc Baydar, PhD in Social Sciences and Vice President of the Center for Excellence in Education from Turkey. "Rama Assaf, CEO of the House of Etiquette Academy (Kingdom of Jordan), won in the "Public Diplomacy Project of the Year" nomination, and singer, composer from Indonesia Ikhtiar Rinrin Tarapi became the young ambassador of Islamic culture and art of the year," the press service reported.
This year, Kazan was awarded the status of the Youth Capital of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. It is the first time such status is granted to a city from an OIC observer country. During the year, 10 large-scale international events with the participation of more than 1,000 people from 70 countries were held in the republic.
