Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated residents of Tatarstan on the centenary of the Republic on Friday.
"I want to thank you for the work that you have done in general for the development of the Republic. I once again congratulate you and all the residents of the Republic on the centenary of the Republic's formation," Putin addressed Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, with whom he spoke via videoconference.
Putin stressed that in general, "the situation in the Republic is if not indicative, then it compares favorably with many other regions of the Federation." He wished all residents of Tatarstan success and promised to consider all the proposals of the head of the region related to the further development of the Republic.
According to Putin, "Tatarstan has traditionally <...> been a leader in a number of key indicators for many years." The President noted the growth of GRP, the increase in industrial production, and the natural growth of the population, which indicates a whole range of measures taken in Tatarstan to maintain the standard of living of people, social services, and other industries.
The President also praised the leadership of Tatarstan for adequate measures taken to combat the spread of coronavirus infection.
"As for the pandemic, Tatarstan certainly looks good here, it is 82nd in the country in terms of morbidity. This is a good indicator, " Putin said. "The measures that you are taking to combat coronavirus infection are adequate to the situation that has developed in the Republic," he stressed.
On May 27, 1920, the decree on the formation of the TASSR was signed. Less than a month later, on June 25, 1920, power in the Tatar Republic was solemnly transferred to the Provisional Revolutionary Committee of the TASSR. Sahibgarey Said-Galeyev was approved by the Politburo of the Central Committee of the RCP(b) as the first head of the established Republic. Due to the epidemiological situation, a wide celebration of the centenary of the Republic is scheduled for August 30.
