On the sidelines of his working visit to St. Petersburg, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov met with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Welcoming the president of Kazakhstan, Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated him on the successful holding of the referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noting the importance of this historic event for the country.
"Today Kazakhstan is one of the leading foreign partners of Tatarstan. We are grateful for attention to our issues and unfailing readiness to assist in the implementation of joint projects," said Rustam Minnikhanov.
Last year, the Tatarstan-Kazakhstan trade turnover amounted to $629 million. The parties stressed the importance of increasing these figures and expanding cooperation, as well as the range of mutually supplied goods.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
"With great pleasure I recall my recent visit to Tatarstan, it was very busy in terms of business activity," said the president of Kazakhstan.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that he closely monitors the implementation of joint projects and keeps them under personal control.
During the meeting, the president of Kazakhstan reported on the progress of their projects to the CEO of PJSC "Tatneft".
At the end of the meeting, an agreement of intent was signed between PJSC "Tatneft" and NC "KazMunayGas" on implementation of the Karaton-Sarkamys exploration project in the Atyrau region of Kazakhstan.

The Karaton-Sarkamys subsoil area is located in the Atyrau region near the existing fields Tengiz, Korolevskoye and a group of fields of JSC "Embamunaigas".
In February 2022, Karaton-Sarkamys was included in the list of subsoil areas for exploration and production of hydrocarbons for granting the right of subsoil use to JSC NC "KazMunayGas".
