School shooting victims buried in Tatarstan

The seven schoolchildren and two adults killed in the shooting at the Kazan school have been buried, Lilia Galimova, head of the press service of the Tatarstan president, said.

 

Three children were buried in the Muslim cemetery, said director Ildar Sakhatdiyev.


"Two - on the kurgan (memorial complex - Ed.), a woman - in Konstantinovka. Two of them were taken to the district," he added, without specifying the place of burial of another person.


The day before the head of the republic, Rustam Minnikhanov, said that the authorities would take over the organization of the burial.


On Tuesday, 19-year-old student Ilnaz Galyaviev opened fire at school No. 175. Nine people were killed and 23 were wounded.


Later, a representative of the Investigative Committee, Svetlana Petrenko, said that the detainee on suspicion of shooting at the entrance to the educational institution blew up an improvised explosive device and used a weapon. As it turned out later, it was officially registered.


A criminal case was opened for the murder of two or more persons, the maximum penalty being life imprisonment.


May 12 was declared a day of mourning in Tatarstan.
