Afghanistan is set to send a large, high-ranking ministerial delegation to the upcoming "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum" to explore cooperation in trade, agriculture, and energy, a source familiar with the preparations told TASS.
“The Afghan delegation will be broad and include representatives from several key ministries,” the source said, adding that the group will be led by Minister of Commerce Nooruddin Azizi. Delegates from the agriculture and energy ministries are also expected to attend.
The goal of the visit is to identify new avenues for economic cooperation between Afghanistan and Russia.
Earlier, Russian Special Presidential Representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov confirmed that a major Russian-Afghan business forum will be held on the sidelines of the 16th KazanForum. The Russian delegation will be led by Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, while Afghanistan will be represented at a senior governmental and business level. Afghan products will also be showcased in a special exhibition.
This comes after the Russian Supreme Court recently approved the Prosecutor General’s request to suspend the ban on the Taliban movement's activities in Russia. The decision took immediate effect.
About the Forum
