Russia's Avtovaz is ready to organize production of Lada Vesta new generation cars in Uzbekistan and produce 15,000 cars a year. However, the company's goal is to produce 30,000 Lada cars a year and capture 10% of Uzbekistan's market share. President of Avtovaz Maksim Sokolov told reporters.
"We are aimed at a strategic partnership. We give for the production of our flagship product - Lada Vesta NG, it is presented here at the stand. <...> And at least in the near future we are ready to resume production. The main thing is that our partners are ready to resume production at the level of 15 thousand cars per year. In total, our target is 30,000 cars a year, i.e. approximately 10% of Uzbekistan's market, which currently stands at 300,000," Sokolov said. The head of the company said that the company is not only planning to produce Lada Vesta, but also other models, including Lada Granta.
Earlier Sokolov said that Avtovaz may set up assembly of Lada Vesta of the new generation in Uzbekistan. According to him, in the future the company intends to deepen the degree of localization of car assembly in the country, "in particular, welding and painting."
In September 2021, Avtovaz began mass assembly of Lada cars jointly with the Uzbek company Roodell at the plant ADM Jizzaakh, located in the free economic zone "Jizzakh" (Uzbekistan). Later, production was suspended.
