Azerbaijan Prime Minister, Russian Railways Head Discuss North-South Corridor Infrastructure

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with Oleg Belozerov, CEO of Russian Railways, to discuss increasing freight traffic along the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), according to the Azerbaijani government's press service.

 

The meeting addressed the current state and future development of Azerbaijan-Russia economic cooperation across various sectors, with particular focus on transport and logistics collaboration, including railway interoperability.

 

Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts to enhance the region's transit potential. In this context, they stressed the need for synchronized infrastructure development along the INSTC and maintaining sustainable growth in freight volumes along this route.

 

Belozerov visited Baku to participate in the 83rd meeting of the Council for Railway Transport of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Earlier on Wednesday, Russian Railways, Iranian Railways, and Azerbaijan Railways signed a memorandum aimed at enhancing the commercial attractiveness of the INSTC's western route.
