Recent strains in political relations between Azerbaijan and Russia have not disrupted trade between the two countries, according to Central Bank Chairman Taleh Kazimov.
Speaking at a press conference, Kazimov said the Central Bank is keeping a close watch on the situation but sees no significant impact on trade so far.
“Russia remains one of our main partners outside the oil sector. We haven’t observed any major shifts in trade volumes,” he noted.
Official figures from Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee show bilateral trade totaled $2.52 billion in the first half of 2025, a 16.2% increase compared to the same period last year. Azerbaijani exports to Russia grew by about 6.1%, while imports from Russia jumped nearly 20%.
