Azimut Hotels to Open First Five-Star Property in Central Asia

15 July

Russian hotel chain Azimut Hotels is set to open its first five-star property in Central Asia, taking over management of the International Tashkent in Uzbekistan’s capital, Vedomosti reported, citing a company spokesperson.

The International Tashkent, which opened in 1997 as the country’s first five-star hotel, was previously managed by InterContinental until 2012. In spring 2024, the property was purchased by Smart Fast Stroy for $26 million.

The hotel will be rebranded as the Azimut Grand Hotel Tashkent, becoming Azimut’s first five-star offering in the region and its second property in Uzbekistan. Earlier in 2024, the company launched the four-star Azimut Hotel Tashkent, formerly known as Moderno Tashkent.

Back in May, Azimut Hotels told TASS it planned to open 15 hotels in 2025 across Russia, Asia and the Middle East — with Uzbekistan named among the key markets already in preparation.
