Bashkortostan’s Agidel Port to Resume Grain Exports to Egypt and Iran

06 February

Grain shipments from the port of Agidel in Bashkortostan are set to resume this year for the first time since 2019, with the cargo destined for Egypt and Iran. Eduard Yusupov, the Deputy Mayor of Agidel for Economy, Investment, and Entrepreneurship, informed TASS that the total weight of the planned shipments will be approximately 90,000 tons.

"We are planning two shipments from Agidel port this year, consisting of agricultural products for Iran and Egypt," Yusupov stated. "The last time cargo was dispatched along these routes was in 2019. Our port zone is included in the federal register of sites authorized to receive vessels sailing under foreign flags. The port remains accessible throughout the navigation season, from April to November, and can accommodate any vessel capable of navigating the Volga."

The export operations will involve grain from four different elevators, with 50,000 tons allocated for Egypt and 40,000 tons for Iran. Yusupov emphasized that the port is a vital strategic facility, providing access to the Caspian, Black, White, Baltic, and Azov Seas.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Roads of Bashkortostan, the company Bashatomterminal LLC has recently completed modernization work at the site. This upgrade includes the planned commissioning of a bunkering berth in Agidel, which is now fully equipped with the necessary safety systems and stands ready for operation.
