Central Bank: 78% of Remittances to Uzbekistan in H1 2025 From Russia

17 July

Money transfers from Russia to Uzbekistan in the first half of 2025 totaled $6.4 billion, accounting for 78% of all inflows, the press service of Uzbekistan’s Central Bank reported.

According to the regulator’s report, remittances to Uzbekistan from abroad in January–June 2025 rose 27% (or $1.8 billion) compared to the same period last year, reaching $8.2 billion.

Other significant remittance sources included Kazakhstan, the United States, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, and several other countries.

In January, the Central Bank published data showing that 77% of all remittances in 2024 also were from Russia — about $11.5 billion, up 29% from the previous year.

Remittances from migrant workers play a key role in Uzbekistan’s economy, supporting domestic demand and consumption while helping to maintain the stability of the national currency.
