EAEU and Indonesia Make "Significant Progress" on Free Trade Agreement

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Indonesia have made substantial advancements in their discussions regarding a free trade agreement, as announced by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

 

From July 22 to 24, the fifth round of negotiations took place in Batu, Indonesia, focusing on the prospective free trade agreement between the EAEU and Indonesia. Kira Danilcheva, Deputy Head of the Trade Policy Department at the EEC, stated that this round saw significant progress in harmonizing the text of the agreement and outlined the necessary steps to complete the negotiation process substantively.

 

The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council decided to commence negotiations with Indonesia in May 2022. The preceding rounds were held in April, July, and December of 2023, and in March 2024.
