Erdoğan and Minnikhanov Discuss Boosting Trade Between Turkey’s Provinces and Tatarstan

During a meeting in Ankara, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov explored ways to expand trade between Tatarstan and various Turkish provinces. According to Tatarstan’s press service, bilateral trade reached approximately $5.3 billion last year.

 

Minnikhanov is currently visiting Turkey.

 

“Both sides discussed opportunities to further grow trade turnover,” the statement reads. “President Erdoğan asked Minnikhanov to continue supporting joint Turkish–Tatarstan projects.”

 

Erdoğan also highlighted that over a quarter of all Turkish investment in Russia is concentrated in Tatarstan. He praised Minnikhanov’s efforts within the Group of  Strategic Vision “Russia–Islamic World”, saying, “I highly respect your contribution to strengthening Russia’s ties with the Islamic world.”

 

 

In response, Minnikhanov thanked Erdoğan for his personal commitment to deepening regional cooperation between the two countries.

 

The day before, Minnikhanov met with Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, with both sides identifying strong potential for cooperation in sectors like automotive manufacturing, machine tools, metalworking, agriculture, and food production. He also held talks with Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır, focusing on major joint industrial projects underway in both Tatarstan and Turkey.
