Freight traffic across the Russia-Azerbaijan border has surged fivefold, according to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.
“The volume of cargo at the Russia-Azerbaijan border has increased significantly—by five times,” Overchuk stated to reporters. “The government continues to focus on improving and modernizing our international border checkpoints.”
The deputy prime minister also highlighted the development of the western transportation route along the Caspian Sea, linking Russia, Azerbaijan, and Iran.
“A modern highway is already operational, stretching from the Russian border through Azerbaijan to the Iranian border. It’s a fully functioning route,” Overchuk added.
