Khalifa University of Science and Technology (UAE) has joined the League of Universities of Gazprom Neft, which brings together leading universities from Russia, India and China. The partnership will enable knowledge exchange in industrial innovation and the joint development of educational programs and scientific research in the energy sector, Gazprom Neft announced.
“The key areas of cooperation will include artificial intelligence, data analytics, geology and green technologies,” the company said. Students from Khalifa University will participate in business programs, hackathons, and case competitions organized within the EnergoTechnoHub St. Petersburg ecosystem, a Gazprom Neft initiative to support technology entrepreneurship. “As part of the partnership, they will gain hands-on experience working on projects aimed at solving advanced technological challenges,” Gazprom Neft added.
Russian students enrolled in Gazprom Neft’s corporate master’s programs will also be able to take part in short-term exchanges with their peers at Khalifa University.
“Partnering with Gazprom Neft, one of the technological leaders in the global oil and gas industry, opens unique opportunities for our faculty, researchers, and students,” said Khalifa University President Ebrahim Al Hajri. He noted that the university’s Department of Petroleum Engineering ranks seventh globally, and its research centers focus on energy, sustainable development, carbon capture and hydrogen technologies.
“We’re creating a format where students from Russia and the UAE can work together on technological challenges, participate in hackathons and exchange ideas. This approach helps build an international talent community ready to take on the most complex problems in energy,” said Ilya Dementyev, Rector of the Gazprom Neft Corporate University. “Future engineers will gain real-world international experience and apply best practices in their work.”
Gazprom Neft also reported that it is participating in the creation of an international remote employment platform for BRICS countries, which specialists from the UAE will be able to join.
The League of Universities of Gazprom Neft is a corporate network connecting the company with 48 leading universities from Russia and abroad. It facilitates academic and research collaboration through a unified exchange system, enabling the creation of new faculties, master’s programs and laboratories, and supporting research initiatives and grant programs.
