Head of Iran's Ministry of Industry and Trade Arrives in St. Petersburg to Sign Agreement with EEU

Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade Abbas Ali-Abadi, has arrived in St. Petersburg to participate in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC), reported the IRNA news agency.

 

During his one-day trip,  Ali-Abadi is expected to sign an agreement on establishing a free trade zone (FTZ) between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). The signing ceremony will involve representatives from Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

 

The agreement is a significant development in economic ties between Iran and the EEU. The signing is scheduled to take place on December 25 during the EEU meeting in St. Petersburg, attended by leaders of EEU member states, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting aims to address key issues related to the Union's operations and discuss further integration. Leaders are expected to approve crucial decisions and documents, including a declaration outlining the union's development until 2030 and extending through 2045.

 

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov previously announced that the agreement on a free trade zone between the EEU countries and Iran would be signed during this meeting. The Kremlin spokesperson emphasized the document's significance in fostering the continued development of economic ties between the participating states.
