Kazakhstan and Russia to Develop Updated Economic Cooperation Program

30 January

Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin held talks in Astana, where they agreed on the need to develop an updated economic cooperation program, the Kazakh government’s press service reported.

“The positive results of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Program for 2021-2025 were noted, and the necessity of developing an updated program for the upcoming period was emphasized,” the statement said.

Russia remains one of Kazakhstan’s key trading partners. “In the first 11 months of last year, bilateral trade reached $24.2 billion. To achieve the target set by the two heads of state—increasing trade turnover to $30 billion—expanding the range of traded goods is essential,” the press service explained.

According to official data, trade in agricultural products between the two countries grew by 5% in the first 10 months of 2024, exceeding $3.2 billion.
